English pub style never fails to inspire me. It’s cozy, eclectic, warm, and unique.

The ideal place to gather with friends and slow down for a Sunday roast, refreshing pint (or my favourite, a cider black), or decadent dessert (er, I mean pudding - but NOT pudding as we in North America know it!).

Curl up in a wingback chair with a good book or journal and a bowl of soup or ploughman’s board to keep you company. I sincerely wish these were part of our culture here in California.

This pub, @thebellstow is one of my favourite Cotswolds pubs to visit when I’m leading my annual Women’s Walking Retreat through the English countryside.

With Valentine’s this week, I thought I’d shar

We finally made it to the Mary Cassatt exhibition

We finally made it to the Mary Cassatt exhibition at the @legionofhonor on the VERY last day! 😅

Cassatt was an American Impressionist who focused on depicting domestic life. Her work, though demure in subject, is expertly expressed through strength of skill.

My young daughters especially loved seeing Cassatt’s work en masse, and I am ever grateful for the gift of having this incredible museum and its sister gallery, the @deyoungmuseum , and all of their stunning shows at our doorstep.

Slowing down to view the masters in person is something I’ll always treasure, and getting to do that with my kids is priceless.

For the price of a nice family meal for 5 and a trip to the movies (honestly, those two things never happen at once though because $$$) you can get a family pass for these two fantastic museums. Loads less expensive than a trip to Europe and with all the great artists at your fingertips!

AND, if you’re a resident of one of the Bay Area’s 9 counties you can visit the Legion of Honor’s exceptional permanent collection for FREE every Saturday!
